Getting it right matters.
And when we don't, correcting the record matters too.
SALT. aims to publish accurate, clearly sourced and appropriately contextualised editorial content.
We recognise that mistakes can happen, particularly when reporting on complex scientific, regulatory or industry matters.
We take credible corrections seriously.
How to request a correction.
If you believe an article contains an error, please contact us with the article title or URL, a description of the issue and any supporting information.
We distinguish between factual corrections, clarifications, updates and differences of interpretation.
A factual error should be corrected when verified. A clarification may be appropriate when wording is technically accurate but creates a misleading impression. New developments may justify an update to previously accurate reporting.
Disagreement with an article's conclusions does not automatically establish that the article is inaccurate, but substantive challenges to the evidence deserve consideration.
Transparency.
Our intended practice is to make material corrections clear to readers, including the nature of significant changes and, where relevant, the date of correction.
We also aim to distinguish corrections from routine copy-editing or minor formatting adjustments.
The objective isn't to pretend we're incapable of making mistakes. It's to take
responsibility for them when they happen.
