Have a story? We're listening.
You don't need to have written about seafood before to find a story worth telling.
Some of the most interesting perspectives come from people who approach familiar subjects differently.
SALT. welcomes ideas from journalists, writers, photographers, researchers and people with specialist knowledge of the seafood world.
We're interested in original reporting, distinctive perspectives, well-researched analysis and stories that connect seafood to bigger conversations about food, oceans, people and culture.
What makes a good SALT. story?
We're looking for something specific.
A question worth answering. A person whose experience reveals something bigger. An emerging development that deserves closer examination. A familiar subject approached from an unexpected direction.
We particularly appreciate pitches with a clear angle, credible supporting information and an explanation of why the story matters now.
We're less interested in generic industry summaries, promotional announcements presented as journalism or articles that could have been written without speaking to anyone or examining any evidence.
What to send us.
Tell us what the story is, why it's relevant to SALT. and how you would approach it.
Include any relevant reporting, research or access you already have, along with examples of previous work where available.
You don't need a finished article to start the conversation.
