Privacy and cookies.
What we collect, why, and what we don't do. Last updated 18 October 2026.
SALT. is published by SeaBorn Media. This page explains how we handle personal information when you read SALT., subscribe to Fresh Catch or get in touch with us.
The short version.
We don't use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or tracking pixels. We only collect personal information you choose to give us, and we use it for the purpose you gave it for. We don't sell it.
What we collect.
Fresh Catch newsletter
If you subscribe, we collect your email address so we can send you the newsletter. Sign-ups are received through our hosting provider, Netlify, and stored by our email provider, Resend, which sends the newsletter on our behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, and we will stop sending to you.
OFFSHORE. and other enquiries
If you contact us or fill in the OFFSHORE. Issue 01 form, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, company, email address, website and message. They are received through Netlify and we use them only to consider your enquiry and reply to you. Automatic confirmation emails are sent through Resend.
Reading the site
SALT. is hosted on Netlify. Like most hosting services, Netlify logs technical information such as IP addresses to keep the service secure. We do not use that information to identify or profile readers. Our fonts are served from our own site.
To understand which stories people read, we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies, does not store anything on your device and does not track you across other websites; it gives us aggregate figures such as page views.
Why we use it.
We rely on your consent for the newsletter, and on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and running the publication. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
How long we keep it.
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your request, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you.
Cookies.
SALT. does not set cookies, and our analytics work without them, so there is no cookie banner. If that ever changes, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Your rights.
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. To make a request, use the details on our Contact page.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK or to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this page.
We will update this page when the way we handle personal information changes, and show the date of the latest update at the top.
